Celebrating Scottish spa traditions

Nestling in the Moffat hills, a jewel in the crown of southern Scotland, the town is easy to find. Situated a mile from the main A74M from Carlisle to Glasgow, Moffat is a great stopping off point as well as a perfect place to stay.

Victorians had the idea..

Visitors flocked to Moffat in Victorian times to sample the healing properties of the waters from the three spas at Garpol, Archbank and Hartfell.

Visitors today can view the Old Well and take an invigorating walk to Hartfell Spa and there are plans to restore the old Moffat Pump Room in the town. Moffat has built on its proud history as a Spa Town and today is focused on the broader theme of health and well-being providing visitors with an experience that makes you feel 'Better for being here'

Visitors to Moffat often remark on the outstanding natural beauty of the area. Many natural features present an abundance of places to visit, all within easy distance from Moffat itself. The dramatic Grey Mare's Tail waterfall is a must for all hillwalkers and natural historians.

Other spectacular views include The Devils Beef Tub, famously described by Walter Scott 'as if four hills were laying their heads together, to shut out daylight from the dark hollow space between them'.
