At the Carlton Institute we believe that standards are important to ensure that the spa or salon client has a quality experience that he/she enjoyed so that he/she wants to come back. We also believe that the whole customer journey with you is important to that experience.

We therefore focus on helping you achieve great standards by giving you access to affordable courses that are delivered by qualified experienced personnel; courses that lead to a verified standard that you can rely on with the external independent accreditation that is appropriate to that course.

The Carlton Institute is the leader and pioneer in providing fast track accredited recognised qualifications via independently verified beauty, nail and spa therapy courses catering for the whole range of personnel from beginners to experienced therapists and managers. These courses are designed to allow the respondent to operate comfortably and knowledgably in their role. The qualified teachers focus the courses on the techniques and knowledge needed to perform the task and are not brand specific.

All courses are taught by experienced and qualified tutors and lecturers. We employ senior tutors who have operated in or run a spa or a salon with a team and have at least 5 years experience. We also use specialists for specific courses - retailers for retailing, marketing experts for marketing. The key disciplines are taught by lecturers with qualifications for teaching spa and beauty therapy.

We will shortly also be introducing NEW training programmes for all aspects of the management of a spa or salon business whether as a sole owner, a department manager, a club or hotel spa, the HR and training team in a multiple or the directors who want to improve performance and achieve a return on the funds invested (ROCE).

We have been providing training and support for over 16 years and have trained in excess of 15,000 students from all over the world but focus on the UK and Ireland. All our courses are modular, typically 1-5 days, and lead to a diploma or a recognised qualification from NVQ/IHBC/IIHT accredited by VTCT or BABTAC. We view ourselves as partners to improve your business not as here one day gone the next consultants.

Our relationship with our students doesn't finish at the end of a course, we provide ongoing support by phone and email to help students maximise their investment in their career. We will continue to innovate and add services that our customers request.

The Carlton Institute is not an 'add on' to a spa or salon business, our sole focus is to provide fast track expert training to help you improve your business results.

We are privileged to be able to draw on the wide experience of our people who have been therapists, set up individual salons and spas from scratch, through to running operations employing over 500 therapists in 3 countries over more than 40 sites.

We have involvement at all levels of our industry with representation on the Board of Habia (the UK standard setting body for our industry) and on the Spa Business Association (the leading UK & Ireland trade association for the Spa Industry).
